WEEKLY INCOMEHow Much Does $10,000 in $CHPY Pay Per Week?
$10,000 in the YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF pays about $77 a week at the newest payout and about $90 a week at its 13-week average. Here's the math, all 80 weekly distributions, and what the last year actually returned.
The quick answer
$CHPY closed at $60.70 on October 20, 2026, so $10,000 buys about 165 shares. The newest distribution is $0.4702 per share (declared October 20, ex-date October 21, paid October 22). That's roughly $77 for the week.
One week never tells the whole story, so I also look at the average. Over the last 13 weeks $CHPY paid about $0.5467 per share on average, which on 165 shares is about $90 a week, or around $390 a month. The last 52 payments added up to $27.66 per share, which would be roughly $4,556 a year on a $10,000 position at today's price.
The good news compared to a lot of weekly payers: $CHPY's checks are fairly steady. Since launch, the smallest payout was $0.3454 and the biggest was $0.7754. That's a range of a little over 2x, not the 17x swings you see in some single-stock funds.
What is $CHPY?
$CHPY is the YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF. It launched on April 2, 2025, trades on NYSE Arca, and owns a basket of roughly 15 to 30 semiconductor stocks directly. On top of those shares it sells call spreads to collect option premium, and it pays that income out every week.
This is the part most people miss about $CHPY: it's not a synthetic single-stock fund. It actually holds the chip stocks, and because it sells call spreads instead of plain covered calls, it keeps some room to participate when semis rip. That design is a big reason the share price has held up better than most high-yield weekly payers.
- Issuer: YieldMax ETFs
- Strategy: Own 15 to 30 semiconductor stocks, sell call spreads, pay weekly
- Gross expense ratio: 1.03%
- Net assets: about $1.27 billion (October 20, 2026)
- Top holdings (Oct 21, 2026): $NVDA 6.70%, $AMD 6.08%, $MRVL 5.94%, $AVGO 5.12%, $MU 4.75%, $LRCX 4.74%, $INTC 4.66%
- Distribution rate: 40.15% as of October 20, 2026 (annualizes only the newest payout)
It's one of the bigger funds in the YieldMax lineup. I compared the whole family in YieldMax ETFs: the high-yield weekly lineup for 2026, and $CHPY also made my list of the 10 safest weekly dividend ETFs for passive income.
$CHPY weekly income at different investment amounts
Hypothetical, before taxes, at $60.70 per share (October 20, 2026 close).
| Investment | Latest week ($0.4702/sh) | 13-week avg ($0.5467/sh) | Monthly at 13-wk avg | Last 52 payouts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $1,000 | ~$8 | ~$9 | ~$39 | ~$456 |
| $5,000 | ~$39 | ~$45 | ~$195 | ~$2,278 |
| $10,000 | ~$77 | ~$90 | ~$390 | ~$4,556 |
| $25,000 | ~$194 | ~$225 | ~$976 | ~$11,391 |
| $50,000 | ~$387 | ~$450 | ~$1,951 | ~$22,781 |
| $100,000 | ~$775 | ~$901 | ~$3,903 | ~$45,562 |
So depending on which number you use, $10,000 in $CHPY is paying somewhere around $77 to $90 a week right now. The trailing 12-month payout works out to about 45% of today's share price, a bit above YieldMax's official 40.15% distribution rate because the summer checks were bigger than today's.

The real test: what did $10,000 actually return?
Here's what I actually look at before I buy any weekly payer: total return. Share price change plus every distribution. A 40% yield means nothing if the price is melting.
So let's run the last year. $CHPY closed at $58.33 on October 20, 2025. A year later it closed at $60.70. The price went up about 4% while the fund paid out $27.66 per share. That's not something you can say about most 40%-yielding funds.
| $CHPY | $SMH (semis index ETF) | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $58.33 | $347.22 |
| Price now | $60.70 | $546.36 |
| Distributions collected | ~$4,741 | small (included in total) |
| Value of shares | ~$10,406 | ~$15,784 with dividends |
| Total | ~$15,148 (+51%) | ~$15,784 (+58%) |
That's a strong year. $CHPY captured most of the chip rally while handing you about 47% of your money back in cash along the way. It still trailed plain $SMH by a few points, which is exactly what you'd expect: selling call spreads caps part of the upside in a monster year.
Timing matters a lot here too. YieldMax reports a 1-year market price return of 90.90% and 155.85% cumulative since inception, both as of September 30, 2026. Then semis pulled back in October. $CHPY closed as high as $89.44 on June 22, 2026, and today's $60.70 is about 32% below that peak.
I track this pattern across the whole category in weekly dividend ETFs with the lowest price decay. $CHPY is one of the few high yielders that has actually grown its share price, which is why my own data flags it with no price decay right now.
Who $CHPY is for (and who it isn't)
- It can make sense if you want semiconductor exposure and you'd rather get paid weekly than wait for growth. It's a real basket of chip stocks, not a bet on one ticker.
- It doesn't fit if you need your principal to be stable. A 32% drop from the June high happened in four months. If that would make you sell, size it small or skip it.
- Reinvesting changes the math. With a fund that has held its price, reinvesting the weekly cash compounds your share count nicely. Just remember you're also adding more semiconductor risk every week. I'd rather reinvest into a fund like this than chase a higher-yielding fund with a falling price.

My takeaway
$10,000 in $CHPY pays about $77 to $90 a week right now, roughly $390 a month, and the last 52 payouts added up to about $4,556 on a $10,000 position at today's price. The payout has been steadier than most weekly funds, and over the last year the share price actually went up.
That's rare for a fund yielding around 40%. But don't confuse a great year for chips with a guarantee. I treat $CHPY as a semiconductor position that spins off cash, not a bond replacement. Own it because you want that exposure, keep it a sensible size, and judge it on total return, not the yield. If you want to keep an eye on its price decay and yield next to every other income ETF, that's exactly what TopDividendETFsPRO is built for.

$CHPY questions, answered
How much does $10,000 in $CHPY pay per week?
At $60.70 per share (October 20, 2026 close), $10,000 buys about 165 shares of $CHPY. At the latest distribution of $0.4702 per share that is about $77 per week. At the 13-week average of about $0.5467 per share it is about $90 per week, or roughly $390 per month. Distributions change every week and are not guaranteed.
What is $CHPY?
$CHPY is the YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio Option Income ETF. It launched on April 2, 2025, holds roughly 15 to 30 semiconductor stocks such as $NVDA, $AMD, $MRVL and $AVGO, sells call spreads on them to generate option income, and pays distributions weekly. The gross expense ratio is 1.03%.
Does $CHPY pay dividends weekly?
Yes. $CHPY has paid 80 weekly distributions from its first ex-date on April 17, 2025 through October 21, 2026, totaling about $39.01 per share. Weekly amounts ranged from $0.3454 to $0.7754 per share. Distributions are usually declared on Tuesday, go ex-dividend on Wednesday and are paid on Thursday.
What is the $CHPY dividend yield?
YieldMax lists a 40.15% distribution rate as of October 20, 2026, which annualizes only the latest payout. The last 52 distributions totaled $27.66 per share, about 45% of the $60.70 share price. A large part of many payouts is estimated return of capital.
Is $CHPY a good investment?
It depends on your goals. From an October 20, 2025 close of $58.33 to $60.70 a year later, a $10,000 investment grew to about $15,148 including distributions (about +51%), slightly behind the semiconductor ETF $SMH at about +58%. It is a volatile sector fund that sits about 32% below its June 2026 high. This is not financial advice; do your own research.
